Yet another consignment sale win for the short man. A local church put together a decent sized consignment sale that started this morning at 7am through this weekend. While the clothing selection was slightly over priced for the quality of clothes (most things were play condition only), there were tons of toys, books, baby gear, and shoes - the things I was looking for.
I picked up 15 children's books (including Lyle, Lyle Crocodile - a favorite of mine!), a few big Fisher Price/Little Tykes toys, a winter coat and 2 hats, and a beautiful brocade mei tai carrier (it was $3.50!) for a total of $45. Can't beat it.
Being the frugal Momma I am, I'm going to return two of the toys I had stashed away for C's birthday - I've since found them in gently used condition for a fraction of what they originally cost me...and even that was less than retail price! While C may not have tons of brand spanking new toys, he's got quite a collection and it isn't breaking the bank.
Remember - kid's things are made to withstand multiple washings! Safely buying used toys, clothes, and other gear is as simple as a quick cleaning and checking for any recalls.
On Saturday, everything at the sale becomes an additional 50% off. Maybe I'll go look at the clothes then. ;-D
